A few days after the start of the lockdown, the telecoms cooperative Izarkom announced that it would facilitate the connection to children who do not have access to the internet at home. Since March 13, students from Hego Euskal Herria have been receiving online classes from their homes, but this has also revealed the digital divide suffered by many families.
Izarkom started working with schools to deliver SIM cards at the lowest price possible and distribute them to children. The Elgeta City Hall has also joined the initiative and explained that it has made cards and computers available to local school children.
The City Hall has thanked both the school and the cooperative.
