Salvadoran President Authorizes the Use of Deadly Violence Against Gang Prisoners
  • In El Salvador, President Nayib Bukele has authorized the Police and the Army to use deadly violence in "lethal force" prisons. According to CNN, this is a strategy to deal with the gangs, one of which could be related to these attacks in recent days in the country.

Authorities say more than 50 people have been killed this weekend and members of imprisoned gangs have ordered killings out of prison. Since then, terrifying images have been spread from El Salvador ' s Salvadoran prisons and many of them have been disseminated by President Bukele himself through Twitter.

The country's prison director has publicly ordered: "Maximum emergency in all prisons where there are gang members, the intelligence services have informed us that the killings have been ordered. A lockdown of 24 hours a day, every day, while police operations are underway."

In these images you can see the prisoners stacked on top of each other, some with masks, and many others not. Coronavirus cases are spreading in American prisons, while human rights organizations are calling for the release of non-violent prisoners.
