111 Akademia has awarded the book Material for the Construction of Eider Rodriguez, published in Donostia-San Sebastián. The prize awarded each year 111 Akademia is a continuation of the literary mention Beterriko Liburua, created by Manuel Larramendi Kultur Elkartea in 1996. This year, the Plaza de la Literatura Vasca hosted the 26 edition of the prize that seeks to give voice and prominence to the reader.

The Academy 111 is currently composed of 212 readers, of whom 127 have participated in the selection of the award for the 2021 favorite book. The award was chosen in three rounds of voting between January and April 2022. Itxaro Borda Rain (Susa, 2021) has been the great rival of Building Material in the last batch. The second or third week of June will be a public award ceremony, according to 111 Akademia announced.

For readers, construction material is a literary work that leads to a diffuse space between despair and nostalgia. In this sense, they have emphasized that it has a “moderate and measured writing” and a “unique style”. “Perhaps the protagonist defines this novel as his father defines it: sour and salty. No doubt, a masterpiece.”

In response to Danele Sarriugarte's questions in March at ARGIA, Rodríguez said: “It is a story that I would have preferred not to write, because I would have preferred not to live, but once lived, the time to make the experience a story has been very enriching. A friend told me that what I've written so far has been a preparation to write this. I don't think that's it, but I have a feeling that I haven't had a headache like with stories. I've felt it in a pretty graphic way, pulling and throwing. I don’t know where.”
