The 26th edition of the EHZ festival will take place in Irisarri, with a space dedicated to theatre as a novelty
  • In Muskildi, the members of the festival Euskal Herria Zuzenean, at the Hotel Xistera Zaharra in Zuberoa, renovated to promote creation and cultural transmission, have been quoted. There they have given the first details about this year’s festival. "Yesterday we were in the lands of Arrosa, Idauze-Mendi, Heleta or Lekorne; today we were in Irisarri, Muskildi or Biarritz. The world of EHZ is based on several lands," they said. The novelty of this year is the creation of a space dedicated to theatre.

The EHZ festival will be held in Irisarri, Baja Navarra, in its 26 edition. Regarding the format, they have advanced that the area of the town square will be free, as they "give great importance to the culture to be accessible".

During the day there will be lectures, circuses, spectacular dances, bertsos and many other activities. The concerts, for their part, will be held again this year, and access to them will require entry. The children's txoko, the hospital, the lockdown, the plaza or the camp, eleven lands will dress the festival. The novelty of this year is that it is a space dedicated to theatre, with the objective of giving more space to this cultural expression.

Among the music groups that will play in the great scene of Paice, Ezpalak, Ibil Bedi, Calling Marian, Kokoko!, Niko Etxart and Fizta & Furiuz have been brought forward.

"Certainly, Niko Etxart's concert will revolutionize the atmosphere, and also the KOKOKO coming from Kinshasa! Also, African electric music from the collective. On the scene we will hear the metal cries that the Fizta & Furiuz group has prepared guarding in Luhuso over the past few months."

There will also be theatre, circus or dance shows. The first names that will act in the plaza have been given: The Gaithistan Orchestra, the dance groups Haatik eta Hastapen and the circus company Sarini, which are experts in acrobatics.

Another year, the Irisarri Hospital building will host a series of workshops, conferences and round tables. "Participants will have the opportunity to reflect and debate on the current challenges, including Euskera, wars, the oppression of indigenous peoples or mental illnesses," he added. They have anticipated that Josu Martinez will design three short films shot in Baigorri.

Advance sale of on-going tickets

Three-day tickets ehz.eus are already on sale on the website at a price of €35, in a limited amount. They say the day tickets will come later. In the coming weeks, registration will also be launched to participate in the festival as a collaborator.
