One hundred entrepreneurs block Europe’s largest private aircraft fair
  • About 100 activists from the environmental groups Greenpeace, Stay Grounded, Extinction Rebellion and Scientist Rebellion have blocked Europe’s largest private jet fair on Tuesday morning, according to Greenpeace. Entrepreneurs from different countries travel to Geneva to call for a "total ban" on these aircraft. In recent months, the protest has followed several demonstrations.

Entrepreneurs have faced several private aircraft that were exposed in the European Commercial Aviation Convention and the Exhibition (EBACE) and have hooked up to the aircraft stairs. They have also been placed in the exhibit court to prevent buyers from entering. Private jets are also smoking our future," they've posted messages like "our planet is dying" on airplanes.

Klara Maria Schenk, head of the Mobility for All campaign in Greenpeace, said that private jet engines have a direct impact on the climate crisis: "We citizens are making efforts to reduce emissions and the most vulnerable are those who suffer the most from the climate crisis. It's time for governments to end unfair and abusive emissions and ban private jet."

According to various studies, private flights generate 10 times more CO2 than commercial flights, and microparticles and noise cause excessive pollution that affects health, quality of life and the environment.
