EH Bildu considers that pensioners "are not taken into account" in the budgets presented by the Basque Government
  • The only way for the Basque Government is to reach an agreement with the Abertzale coalition to agree. EH Bildu says that the money intended for pensioners is "not enough" to meet these needs. Today is the turn of the meetings.

Eh Bildu has announced that he will not support a budget project that does not meet the needs of Basque pensioners. And if there is no news, the budgets of the Basque Government would not be approved, because the last option of them is the coalition, since the possibilities of Elkarrekin Podemos and pp were discarded.

The Basque Government has proposed to EH Bildu to negotiate on what to spend a EUR 48 million exchange, and the coalition believes that at least EUR 350 million should be earmarked. According to EH Bildu, “there is money.” They have pointed out that the institutions of the historic territories have this year recorded "the highest revenue for a long time", and that there is also a EUR 700 million exchange without spending last year. Therefore, they say that there is only “setting priorities and investing” left.

Pressure

The PNV has tried this weekend to increase the pressure on EH Bildu in the face of difficulties in reaching an agreement. In a political event held last Saturday in Álava, the president of the Euzkadi Buru Batzar, Andoni Ortuzar, said that the Abertzales have two options, “one or the other”: “to help the pensioners who need it most, the families in emergency and the unemployed, or to help the PP”.

EH Member Bildu Maddalen Iriarte responded harshly to these statements in the Basque Country. He said that the government “excuses are over” – as the PNV juntero Aitor Esteban said by the government of Pedro Sánchez – and that it is the government that has the responsibility to prepare “decent and adequate” budgets, not the party that it has to support. “Stop putting the ball in EH Bildu’s court,” he added.

EH Bildu, the only road

Pp and Elkarrekin We are “out of competition.” Those on the left say that the Basque Government has no "interest" in negotiating with these proposals and that their proposals have not been heeded. The pp, for his part, has made it clear that the project is "focused" on the interest of the Left Abertzale, so the pp will not support it.

Today the representatives of EH Bildu and the Minister of Finance and Economy of the Basque Government, Pedro Azpiazu, meet to analyse the current situation.
