One day: Played 3.5 million games in 2019
  • Among the 60,000 Basques, a total of 3.5 million matches were played at the Gaur Egun Behin in 2019. The game was born in spring at the hand of the company CodeSyntax, and what before the summer was a steady climb (this period we call Season 1), became a great success from September to December. Season 2. This phase closed last Sunday, 29 December. The game will be activated again on February 3, but in the meantime, here are some data to assess what the game gave last year.

Once in the spring the Joko bat mobile app was born, and seeing that gradually it was growing, in the summer we paused. The concept of season has been, in some way, the result, a bit of rest in management and measures to strengthen the game. The data for the first season was pretty, and we published an analysis of it. The second season has developed from September to the end of the year, and although we were optimistic, the boom has been spectacular and has greatly welcomed us.

The increase in users has been the most positive data for us. Of the 10,000 people who play in summer, in a quarter they have risen from 60,000. The graph has had an upward trend, and the day when more matches, more than 60,000, were played was the last day of this second season, last Sunday, December 29.

Sundays and Mondays are usually the days with the most matches. And we've also taken a graph of the hours, when they're played. This is the graph of a normal working day, in early December:

The hours of the day are divided in intervals of 15 minutes in the graph and at each moment the matches that were played were played. There's a bunch of discerning fans who want to play immediately after midnight, and a big group who decides to play with morning awakening. People continue to play throughout the day, but between 19:30 and 22:00 there is a clear primetime, when more matches are decided every day.

Following the statistics, the following graph shows the new users (blue) that have been created daily in the game and the created groups (red).

Let us look at the following detail of what happened in December:

The biggest growth occurred on International Euskera Day and the day before (2,000 people in a single day), and then on 25 December, some 1,500 people joined. The great Christmas meal served to open the game, and on the same day more than 500 groups were formed, the most prosperous day of the year in the groups. In the new teams there will not be much competition for a month... but quiet, we will return on February 3.
