- Labi's technical committee met this Tuesday morning to analyze the epidemiological situation in the CAV. Following the meeting, the lehendakari of the Basque Government, Iñigo Urkullu, said that the situation "remains troubling" and that the measures to be taken will be maintained. It calls for compliance with the existing measures.
According to Urkullu, compliance with the measures already in force is "the most effective way to avoid further cuts". Labi will meet again next Thursday at the Zarzuela Palace.
Increased contagion
The Health Advisor, Gotzone Sagardui, has also attended the meeting to discuss the situation. The counselor has acknowledged that the situation is "very worrying", as the number of COVID-19 infections continues to increase and hospital pressure in the CAV is increasing.
How is vaccination going?
The Health Advisor has explained that 558,098 doses of this vaccine have been administered: Almost 18.75% of the CAV population (412,658 people) received at least the first dose, while 6.69% (147,219 people) received both. “The point is that vaccines are available. If there is, we will continue to administer," he said.
He explained that the doses of Pfizer, Astrazeneca and Jansen that are coming to CAV from Monday to Wednesday will continue to include people at high risk. This means: people who are transplanted or on the waiting list for transplantation; people with kidney treatment, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis; people with cancer; people with primary immunodeficiencies (HIV); people with down syndrome aged 40 and over.
