The bill amending the Equality Act has received over 400 contributions. Among them, Emakunde Director Izaskun Landaida highlighted the offer of support to children who would be orphaned by male violence. In addition, it has anticipated that support will also be granted to women who are victims of gender-based violence in cases where no compensation is provided by a court decision.

The draft law in the Basque Parliament has yet to be submitted and adopted. The new text also includes the prohibition of all discrimination on grounds of sex in persons and provides that direct discrimination shall be considered in the treatment of one person less favourably than another on the grounds of his/her sex or of circumstances directly related to him/her, such as pregnancy or maternity.
