In order to promote the proper use of digital technologies, educational centres in Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa should take educational measures to regulate the use of mobile phones and smart watches in schools. Vice-Minister of Education, Begoña Pedrosa, and Vice-Minister of Vocational Training, Jorge Arévalo, expressed this at a press conference on Thursday.

They point out that these instructions should be included in the Rules of Organization and Functioning (ROF) before next year and are aimed at all public and concerted schools that make possible Early Childhood, Primary, ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training. In addition, by the end of 2024, all CAPV schools will be required to have a “proper protocol” on the use of telephones.

Pedrosa assumes the responsibility of promoting the proper use of the devices, noting that in addition to sending instructions to the centers for the adoption of pedagogical measures, it will offer training to the educational community: “The application of the rules for the use of mobiles in schools is part of the autonomy of the center, and our mission will be to facilitate this work through training through experts.”
