National Students Call for Critical Strike with the CAV Education Law
  • In addition to current educational legislation in the CAV, the organization Ikasle Abertzaleak has denounced the LOMLOE, the LOSU University Law or the Vocational Training Plan. With the aim of “tackling the fraud and reforms of politicians” and “an educational system that overcomes the real problems of students”, the students have called for a strike on 27 October.

The course has begun with the reform laws set out in the previous course “and the educational field is a little further”, they have criticized. They have fought, for example, against the Basque education law that is making its way in the Basque Parliament: They have pointed out that “the inability to respond to the structural problems of the bourgeois educational model” deepens the law and segregation. They add that it has been a imposed process: "With the agreement between the four parliamentary parties, other sectors of the educational community have been completely excluded and any possibility of opposition has been neutralized."

The DMA considers that education is emptying itself of content, that the importance of knowledge development is being omitted, and that centers are becoming “centers of discipline.” Considering that the current educational model responds to the capitalist system and to the production of workforce, “the simplification of work makes the need for qualified training less and less. So small is the importance of content, which often depends on the teacher or teacher who exceeds the subject or not”.

There has also been talk about the increased educational process, the gap between students and segregation. “Access to education is increasingly limited,” they warn. In view of this, “to advance in the construction of an education that is in everyone’s hands and that is free, of quality and universal”, according to the DMA.

27 October, strike

In the words of the members of the DMA, education is in the hands of the economic elites and professional politicians, and has called the students of the High School of Hego Euskal Herria to take to the streets in order to organize themselves before the reform process under the motto “In education, stay capitalist offensive!”.

The four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria have organized demonstrations for that day: 11:30 in Donostia-San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz and 12:00 in Pamplona and Bilbao.
