The minimum income will be approved at the Council of Ministers next Friday, 29 May. The intention of the Spanish Government is that the aid should be channelled through the Social Security System, so Hego Euskal Herria will also be able to perceive it.

Entry from Spain will be compatible with the minimum income already existing in the CAV and Navarra. From now on, the Minimum Social Security Income will be supplemented by the Guaranteed Income and the RGI of Navarra. Complements, because it is considered that the minimum income to be approved by the Spanish Government will be lower, as the cost of living in Spain is not as high as in Euskal Herria.

The Basque Government’s Minister for Employment and Social Policies, Beatriz Artolazabal, said that it was originally intended to combine the aid in a different way, since the central government intended to supplement the regional incomes. After the change of approach, much of the basic income of the Basque Government and the Government of Navarre is taken over by the Spanish Government.

In Hego Euskal Herria the Basque Government and the Government of Navarra will manage the minimum income, as on Wednesday the PNV and the Spanish Government agreed to the transfer of competition.
