- The rescuers who protest at the beach of Zurriola have appeared this Thursday before the media to denounce the attitude of the City of Donostiarra. On Monday, several officers of the Pamplona Municipal Police removed the table and the parasols they were using to protest. On Tuesday they were required to withdraw the placards in which the claims were collected, so the rescuers were fined for refusing to do so.
“The beach rescuers denounce the decision of the City of San Sebastian to silence our voices, as well as the violation of our right to demonstrate freely,” they said at a press conference at the headquarters of the ELA union. “We ask the City Council to comply with the signed agreement and to ensure that the specifications are subrogated once and for all. We call on the BPXport company to reconsider redundant workers and to recognise all workers as permanent discontinuations,” they added.
Agreement not complied with
After the strike, in 2018 an agreement was reached to guarantee the subrogation of the workers of the beaches, but it is the only city of Donostia-San Sebastián that does not comply. BPXport is a subcontracted company that manages the workers of the city's beaches. The City Council and the company do not comply with the working conditions.
On 15 June, therefore, several rescuers decided to strike again. Since then, they have been denouncing their situation on the Zurriola beach, every day, from 8:00 to 22:00. The protesters had no trouble making the protest visible until they received the officers’ visit on 13 July.
On the Osoigo portal, the City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastián recorded a question to answer that has already been supported by 305 people.
