They have created a platform against the surf park they want to build in Donostia: Antondegi Berdea - Waves at sea
  • Several agents related to surfing and environmentalism have created the collective Antondegi Berdea - Waves at sea. The aim is to paralyse the project of artificial waves that the City of Donostia wants to build on Mount Antondegi, in the district of Martutene, just 4 kilometers from the sea and in one of the few undeveloped places.

The City Hall of Donostia-San Sebastian and the company Wavegarden have described as "very worrying" the installation of artificial waves on Mount Andonegi of Martutene of Donostia-San Sebastián. They claim that surfing goes against the sustainability values of the community and would have a "significant and unjust" impact on the environment.

Moreover, this green area "forms part of the green belt of Donostia and is the habitat of many species of mammals. They have denounced that they intend to urbanize and devote land in the public domain with natural value for private use, "without any process of consultation or participation with the public".

The collective Antondegi Berdea - Olas en el Mar has been created by the conservation associations Haritzalde eta Parke Bizirik, the ornithological association Itsas Enara and the BiziLagunekin platform.

It also has the support and collaboration of Greenpeace, Surf & Nature Alliance and SEO-Birdlife.

Its objective is to defend Antondegi as a natural space and to paralyse the project of the artificial wave or any other project that threatens this environment. They mirror the work done in San Juan de Luz, where they managed to paralyze a facility similar to the artificial waves they want to install in San Sebastián.
