Osakidetza crisis
In the OPERs, the new director of the Donostia Hospital denounced his persecution by the worker who revealed the fraud
  • One of the workers who reported fraud in the 2018 Public Job Offer call, Agustín Agirre, then director of OSI Debagoiena, made a situation "unsustainable". Now, the OSI has assumed the leadership role of Donostia, and the Minister of Health of the Government has said it is "trusted." The anesthesiologist Roberto Sánchez denounced Aguirre's "abusive use of power" and had to leave the position denouncing his persecution.

"My name is Roberto Sánchez, I am a billibait and after 22 years I have decided to break my employment relationship with Osakidetza", so began his farewell letter and denounces the anesthesiologist Roberto Sánchez, in the digital portal El Diario, last May. After the short presentation it continues as follows: "I have spent too much time working under pressure, in distress, because I have received the harassment of the leadership formed by Agustín Agirre and Luisa María Díaz." Sánchez denounces that she has undergone many changes in working time, that she has suffered the worst hours, many on-call shifts, and that she had to return to work even without respecting the hours of rest. Every time he complained of abuse of authority, he was threatened with opening records. The Berria newspaper recently received these statements.

Azpeitiarra Agustín Agirre, prior to his admission to the Hospital Alto Deba, has been medical director of OSI Basurto until November 2019. He has spent a couple of years in the Upper Must and in recent months has been in the Hospital del Bidasoa, when OSI Donostia has erupted the crisis and the management team has almost dissolved, the first inauguration was on behalf of the Health Advisor, Gotzone Sagardui. The managing director will be provisionally Agustín Agirre and the new medical director will be Ana Bustinduy.

Government confidence

The management of OSI Donostia did not have the same "vision" as Osakidetza and the Department of Health, as announced by Councillor Gotzone Sagardui at his hearing. In recent days, Sagardui has argued that the cessation of the OSI as Managing Director and Medical Director of San Sebastian was "entirely meaningful" and that, rather than a collective restructuring, they are "simple organizational changes". There have been at least three resignations, but according to the counselor, Donostia Hospital is not naked.

Without losing sight of the reasons for the termination, he understands that there were already discrepancies with local authorities. In any case, however, he insists that each institution has a specific role and that the management teams are often responsible for complying with what is agreed upon.
