The Anti-Incinerator Movement reminded the media that the incinerator is being built 5 kilometers from the center of San Sebastián and that the rejection containers have been closed "to show how little we recycle in San Sebastián". Only 16% of Donostia/San Sebastián residents recycle all their waste separately, which in their opinion is too little: "Today is the day when in 65 towns in Gipuzkoa (small, medium and large) more than 70% of the waste is collected by theme and 100 kg of rejection per year is generated per citizen. In Donostia/San Sebastián, 39% is concentrated by theme, which has not changed in recent years, generating 289 kg of rejects per person per year in 2017. It has been almost 5 years since, in 2013, EH Bila and PSE signed an agreement in the City Council of San Sebastián with the objective of collecting 60% by theme in 2016. The new Municipal Government, which emerged from the 2015 elections, rejected it and has not taken any action in the next three years. They have now submitted a one-month plan in which the deadlines for effective action are extended: the targets are now set for 2025. The brown container has been on the streets of all San Sebastian neighborhoods for four years and according to data provided by the City Council, only 14% of San Sebastian families use it."

The members of the EAM denounce the position of the City Council of San Sebastián to allow time to pass, since "with the enormous amount of rejection that San Sebastián generates, a large part of the garbage needs of the incinerator is formed".
