The Basque Government's Director of Emergency Care and Meteorology and spokesperson for the PNV in Galdakao, Fernando Izagirre, has resigned. Last Tuesday, the Governing Council of the Basque Government approved Izagirre’s request, although the news is not known until Wednesday. The information made public by the Vocento group has revealed the resignation of the former Minister of Health.
Izagirre, who was the director of the DYA between 2016 and 2021, resigned following the denunciation of the irregularities that had occurred in that period. In fact, the current DYA leadership reported earlier this month the irregularities detected in that period, and the Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation. Crimes against Izagirre include misappropriation, misappropriation, unfair management and punishable insolvency.
Izagirre has left the post of PNV spokesperson in Galdakao and Director of Emergency Care and Meteorology of the Basque Government since March last year, both positions.
Izagirre started working as a volunteer at the DYA in 1986 and before being a director he worked as coordinator for several years. He has been a councillor and spokesperson for the PNV in the City of Galdakao since 2007.En the last municipal elections was candidate for mayor.
According to Vocento, the PNV of Galdakao has at some point attempted to attribute the resignation to personal issues of citizenship.
