Economic projects, infrastructure and transport: these are the issues that stand out most in the amendments that the PNV has made to the budgets presented by the Government of Pedro Sánchez. And, above all, one of the issues that most concern the Jeltzales is the one published this Wednesday in the News of Gipuzkoa: The intention of the Spanish Government to raise diesel taxes.
At Sabin Etxea they do not want additional taxes to be imposed on this particularly polluting fuel, and depending on that point they can give their approval or abstain from the budgets. The PNV considers that a higher diesel tax “would have a negative economic impact and could put two million jobs at risk”.
In fact, the European Union has long been calling on the Spanish State to bring taxes on diesel and petrol to the same level, since among the countries of the Union the Spanish State is the one that has the greatest difference in taxes between the two fuels for this low tax burden and the one that collects the least money between the Member States for each litre of petrol.
The Jeltzales have also focused on infrastructure, amounting to EUR 2.3 million for Foronda airport and EUR 23 million for the ports of Bilbao and Pasaia. The PNV has also included among its amendments a package of measures to promote energy research and development and, among others, called for the land of the Loiola barracks to be transferred to the City of Donostiarra.
The government formed by the PSOE and the United Nations Podemos has the imperative need for the small groups of the congress to move forward and therefore, following the amendments of the PNV, has shown itself “ready to negotiate”.
