In order to deal urgently with the issue of surveillance, the Denon Bizitzak Erdigunea platform has called on the Basque governments to set up an intersectoral table in the assessment of the strike on 1 December. They have regarded it as an emergency situation and have called for political will in governments, in municipalities, in foreign ministers and in all positions of responsibility to assume the political responsibility of giving a way to the issue of care. They reaffirm that care is a major political problem and that “our lives, our lands, our communities are at stake.”

They say that “the future care we want is the time to dream and exercise the public-community system” and to demand a “dignified public system” that guarantees health, education and care. In the words of the members of the platform “we need everyone to have the right to custody: decent pensions, right to housing, right to registration, care times, permits, land…”.

On the other hand, they stress that the Spanish Law on Foreign Affairs and the associated “institutional, political and social racism” do not offer migrant women life alternatives.
