Gonzalez has not confirmed the identity of the deceased, he has confined himself to reporting that they were two journalists performing a documentary, but the media have assumed that the deceased are Beriain and Fraile. David Beriain was born in Pamplona/Iruña, and Roberto Fraile did so in Barakaldo (Bizkaia).

Fraile and Beriain, together with an Irish journalist and a member of the Burkin security forces, were missing following the attack by several armed persons on an illegal hunting patrol in the Kompienga region in the south-east.
