The Deputy for Economic and Territorial Development of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Imanol Padrales, has announced the tourism objectives until 2025. According to the newspaper Deia, with the opening of the announced hotels, a total of 1,000 new rooms will be installed in Bilbao.
According to data published by the newspaper, hotels in Bilbao were on average 36% in 2015, while in 2018 the average rose to 58%. The rise has also affected prices, according to the study Hotel Price Radar, carried out by the company HRS Group, which has published this Wednesday. It shows the evolution of hotel prices between 2017 and 2018. Compared to the Spanish State, in 2018 the prices of hotel rooms in the capital city of Biscay increased more than anywhere else. The average price goes from EUR 99 to EUR 111.
All the data emphasize the tourist attraction of the city, and data from the last year indicate that the tourism increase has to do with the macro-initiatives of last year in Bilbao. However, the institutions value this increase positively because, as Deia says, its intention is “to grow sustainably with 85,000 tourists a year”. Following this objective, we will give way to hotels of all kinds and other macro initiatives.
