- The French President, Emmanuel Macron, announced last Friday the names of the members who will be part of the new Government. Includes Damien Abad, the new Minister of Solidarity, Autonomy and People with Disabilities. Two days later, the digital newspaper Mediapartamentos publishes the complaint filed by two women.
A woman reported in 2010 that Abad offered him a drink in a bar and then lost consciousness. The next day he woke up in a hotel room next to Abad.
Another woman allegedly had sex with Abad in 2011, and the minister did practices that she did not accept. The complaint was filed in 2017, but the investigation was closed without further processing, according to the Mediapartat newspaper.
According to the digital magazine, on 13 May the Observatory on Sexual Violence in the field of politics sent the Prosecutor’s Office a report on these allegations, as well as the ongoing Republican and Republican parties.
Abad denies the accusations, points out that it is not possible to perform these practices because of the physical inability that blocks the articulation.
For her part, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne pointed out that she knew nothing, but that if justice reactivates her path, it can have consequences. It has been the appointment of Damien Abad as minister, as the Republican was president of the party in the National Assembly. Membership of the Government of the party it considers to be an enemy has therefore had a special impact.
