Nearly fourteen million COVID19 vaccines have expired in Spain since the start of the vaccination campaign on 27 December 2020 until 14 November this year. The most expired doses are those of Pfizer, the largest supplier in the European Union. This has been recognized by the Spanish Medicines Agency (AEMPS) in response to the request for transparency made by the digital portal The Objective.

Specifically, 13,870,197 vaccines have expired: 8.226.142 Pfizer, 2.007.220 de la Moderna, 1.842.170 de Novavax, 1.170.390 de Astrazeneca and 624.275 de Janssen.

AEMPS has not reported the cost of these doses that will go into the trash. The Objective estimates that it is about EUR 218 million.
