- The Superior Court of Justice of Navarre has partially estimated the appeal submitted by the company Valle de Odieta and has granted it the right to integrated environmental authorisation for the unfolding of the nursery of Caparroso. The Department of Development and the Environment of the Government of Navarre has announced that it will adopt this resolution, although it will work to create a legal framework that prevents the establishment of macro-farms in Navarre. The company will be able to accumulate 7,200 milk cows and it is she who wants to open a gigantic exploitation of 20,000 milk cows 60 kilometres from Tudela.
In 2018, the Directorate of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Government of Navarra denied to the company "Hybridization Termosolar Navarra SL and Valle de Odieta" the integrated environmental authorisation to extend storage infrastructures up to 7,200 cows. The latter brought an administrative appeal and the Superior Court of Justice of Navarra now recognizes the company's right to enjoy this permit. In addition, the biometering plant may be switched to the thermophile system.
The Department of Development and the Environment, chaired by Itziar Gómez López, has stated that the resolution will be adopted and, therefore, the company will be able to extend its farm from 3,450 current cows to 7,200 head. The Department of Development and the Environment has pointed out that large farms "may have serious and unreconcilable consequences for the livestock sector of Navarre, as well as for the environment and the territory, due to their great social, economic, environmental and, above all, sanitary impact". Precisely with the tightening of animal health regulations, the Government intends in the future to make it difficult to open up macro-nurseries.
Another bigger one, 60 kilometers from Tudela
The company Valle de Odieta is located in Noviercas (Soria), 60 kilometers from Tudela, dedicated to the spread of a macro stable of 20,000 dairy cows. It is getting administrative permits, has the approval of the Junta de Castilla y León and is buying land in the locality.
