On 19 May, concentrations were organized in Bilbao to claim the right to make the Brebeta in Basque. They have called on the citizens to defend the rights of students. According to the news, the members of the Piarres Larzabal College of Ziburu will meet in Urraña, at the return points next to the schools of Kanbo and Larzabal and in Baiona, on the bridge of Santa Spirituale.
The journalist Haritz Larrañaga has received for the media Naiz the press conference offered at the Piarres Larzabal school in Ziburu. The mayor of Ziburu, Eneko Aldana, has stressed that this is a political problem." Following the reform of the schools in 2016, Brebeta was decided outside the Basque Country, although Aldana considered that there is enough staff to be able to correct the tests. Iñaki Lekuona, director of the school Piarres Larzabal, does not understand the reason for this inconvenience: “What are you afraid of? Why so many problems doing tests in Basque?”
In 1999, the right to do the Brebeta was achieved in Basque and for years the Mathematics and Geographical History tests have been carried out in Basque. In 2016, the French Government carried out a reform in schools and introduced scientific issues in the early years, forcing tests in French in this field.
