The Spanish Consumer Association (OCU) has announced that the prices of the best selling products in major online stores increase by 3% around Black Friday. Companies inflate prices before that day and then sell for sale. Over the past month, the association has analysed 16,000 products, mainly electronics and household appliances.
Over the past month, the OCU has received 6,000 daily price changes, and 99% of the discounts analysed have been fraudulent. The trade regulations oblige traders to set a pre-price in relation to the sales announced, which must be the lowest of the product in the last 30 days. However, these large companies do not comply with the law and lower their interest price and do not reflect the usual price of the product.
The online companies analyzed have announced average discounts of 25% over Black Friday, which is Friday, but they have actually increased by 3% over the lowest price of the last 30 days of products.
In the face of fraud, the Consumer Association recommends not to rely on offers such as Black Friday and its "discount days" and to compare with prices previos.Asimismo, requests that these cases of deception be reported on the networks through the tag #timexBF, which in addition to expanding the information will be responsible for putting the OCU complaint.
