In these times of impoverishment, it is a mockery that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia wishes to spend more than EUR 400 million on the construction of the subfluvial tunnel. Moreover, looking at the economic and technical dimensions of the infrastructure, who can assure us that this project can actually be built or that for its construction there is already oil and cars? Have we not been enough with the failure of pharaohs such as the TAV? Do we need another hole for the wealth generated by the workers?

Despite the climate emergency, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia uses an old and logical “developmentalist” through the construction of infrastructures that promote the use of the car. Those who are destroying Bolintxu to build the super-south want to build a three-kilometer “firewall” that will run below the estuary. It should be borne in mind that currently most of the C02 emissions are from private vehicles in the CAPV, rather than from industry, and that is Petronor in our country.

On the contrary, the rulers do not invest money to connect Las Arenas and Bilbao with the bidegorri. Not to improve, promote and make public transport cheaper. In fact, those who go from Santander to Donostia-San Sebastian will go there to take the Txorierri corridor through the Advanced of Leioa, and it is logical to think that those who live in the Left Margin and work in the Txorierri will take this underground highway.

However, the problem is not the congestion of cars in the Advanced. The problem is the dependency we've been built on the car. The metropolis of Bilbao has been built for the car and Uribe Costa has been touched to be a residential space. As a result, many people go to work every day outside the region. In this situation, the continuous growth established in the region only increases the mobility problems.

This new freeway will not create new paradigms of future mobility as the Council wants to sell, but will condition the mobility of the future by maintaining the paradigm of the past. That is why we regret this Pharaonic project, anti-ecological, anti-social, imposed, outdated and harmful.

The groups Biziz Bizi, Sukar Horia, GuNe and Azkorri Bizirik have called a rally on 30 January, Saturday, to denounce the motorway project under the river and by bicycle and public transport, as part of the Aldaketa mobilizations that will take place to denounce the ecological and social crisis. In addition, at 11:00 hours a cycling march will start from the sports club Andra Mari de Getxo convened by the Biscayan group Zubira Azkorri Bizirik, and from the group Biziz Bizi a bidegorri vindictive march will be organized between Bilbao and Las Arenas.
