The Housing Group of the Casco Viejo de Bilbao (AZET) has organized a rally this Friday at 19:30 hours in Plaza Corazón de María. They will denounce the situation of five neighbours in Bilbao La Vieja who are at risk of being evicted from their homes and show their solidarity with those affected.
As you have explained, these five people are at risk after being persecuted by a person who owns several homes in Bilbao. The Housing Group has advanced that the owner has in the city more than ten "pateras de vivienda" and rents them without contract, and has elaborated a list of abuses of the owner: to take advantage of the vulnerable situation of the migrated people, threaten and tighten the tenants, collect the pluses for the registration or for the rental contract, threaten in a very varied way the tenants who can not pay the rent - decrease in the register.
As if it were not enough, and despite leaving the houses of their property, they have specified that the owner of the house continues to harass and harass several people. It charges ex-tenants who are registered in one of their homes for the maintenance of the standard and usually remains with some of the subsidy they usually receive.
In addition to these abuses, AZET has accused the homeowner of promoting "the war of the poor" in the Basque Country. According to reports, in exchange for monitoring and controlling the housing, they offer their rooms "with discount" to several people in exchange for rooms.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the Housing Group has decided to launch a public campaign on the case.
