Last Saturday, June 29, a day of mobilization took place in the fire parks of Hego Euskal Herria. They went to the protest to denounce the genocide against Palestine and in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Workers were mobilized in all parks, carrying Palestinian banners and flags.

Recently, moreover, it has been reported that the Bidasoa fire brigade has called for mobilisation in the parks following a ban suffered. In fact, at the end of May, the leaders of the Bidasoa Park received an order from the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa: In the place he had placed a Palestinian flag and from the Council they were required to withdraw it, according to the same sources. The unions LAB, ELA and CCOO, among others, have reported on what happened in the area.

The fire brigade asked for permission to reposition the flag, which had emerged as a sign of solidarity, but they refused from the Council. To this end, they have taken as an excuse the regulation adopted on 20 December 2016. According to this measure, signs, notices, communication elements, information and other graphic elements are prohibited in the Provincial Council’s buildings and workplaces. However, it appears that this prohibition applies only to certain elements or symbols.
