Ekologistak Martxan has reported tropospheric ozone pollution levels during the first nine months of 2019. In the Basque Autonomous Community there are about 1,750,000 affected, about 80%. In Navarre, about 300,000 people breathe contaminated air, 46%. Only a quarter of the population lives within the measures appropriate to the pollution levels established by the WHO.

The platform has recalled that two decades ago the first law on combating air pollution entered into force and that the CAV has not yet made the population aware of this high level of pollution. According to the agent, “I would have to report on television, radio, the press or the Internet the levels of pollution recorded”.

In addition, neither Navarre nor the CAPV have taken measures for the Air Quality Improvement Plan. In the first case, they indicate that an administrative or judicial appeal is being processed for inaction by the authorities. It has called on the population to make proper use of transport by avoiding as much as possible vehicles that have motor vehicles in circulation.
