A new earthquake threatens the tsunami in Turkey
  • The earthquake has been 6.4 degrees and has resulted in several replicas, the largest of 5.8 degrees. The tremor has killed at least six people. Faced with the danger of Tsunami, the authorities call on citizens to move away from the sea.

Another earthquake occurred in Turkey on 20 February and recorded at least six deaths. It has had its epicenter in the province of Hatay, south of Turkey, on the border with Syria. In the latter, the tremor has also been noted: almost 300 people have been injured in Turkey, according to Turkey’s vice-president, Fuat Oktay, and in Syria at least 470, according to the Syrian Human Rights Observer. The first has had a 6.4 degree tremor on the Ritcher scale, followed by several replicas, the largest of 5.8 degrees.

The earthquake on February 6 also hit the area. Authorities have explained that then over 1,200 buildings fell down. On Monday, several buildings that were damaged from the first earthquake will be demolished.

Tsunami risk

Authorities are forced to evict coastal cities in the earthquake area by announcing the danger of the tsunami. Sea level has fallen a lot in a short time, predicting the risk of tsunami.
