The Commonwealth of Basque Municipalities (UEMA) has launched the “Zuzenean” campaign, which will take place between 8 June and mid-September, with the aim of “increasing the Basque country” in the services sector. According to UEMA, the Basque Country better reflects the identity of the Basque municipalities and this has to be seen. To this end, it calls for the cooperation of managers and staff in the service sector related to both visitors and visitors. The initiative will involve municipalities and development agencies that have sent the campaign to the merchants and hotel managers of the municipalities members of UEMA.

The UEMA has been performing maintenance and promotion actions for the Basque Country for years in the municipalities that receive the most tourists, in order to avoid the tendencies of abandonment of the Basque Country. This year will be the fifth year and many resources have been prepared for visitors and service sector managers and workers. This year, for the first time, in the tourist offices and in the reception facilities of visitors and the like, you will be able to buy dyptics in Basque, English, Catalan, Galician, Spanish and French.

300,000 round tables will be distributed in the hotel establishments of 111 localities. The colloquium is complemented by the spot made by UEMA in this campaign via QR. The video mentions “the possibility of knowing the Basque territory in another way”, promoting the use and importance of Euskera, along with places and landscapes of Euskal Herria.

Proposals for the use of Euskera

UEMA has proposed to service managers and workers some ideas for interviewing visitors, such as the first word, greetings and thanks in Basque. In this way, the Commonwealth seeks to awaken the curiosity of its clients and to make them aware of the Basque identity. In the colloquiums have been placed several words of easy use in Basque and their translation in English, Catalan, Galician, Spanish and French. The QR codes leading to the basic dictionary for the use of Euskera in the distributed media have been provided, in Spanish, Catalan, French and Galician, and a Spotify QR has been placed, called The Soundtrack of your trip.
