On Thursday, the Ertzaintza arrested a 74-year-old man who had retired for an injury offence. He was charged with shooting at the family farmhouse of a family on the left Abertzale, but on Friday he was released without any conditions or guarantees. However, the Ertzaintza has found at home some thirty weapons and ammunition from different parts of the Ertzaintza. He is accused of possession of weapons, so he has been released. According to several media reports, these weapons were "outdated" and therefore not "dangerous".
At 11 a.m. on January 6, a family from the left Abertzale of Amurrio was shot in the farmhouse. The bullet went through the kitchen window, broke the glass and hit the wall, but did not hurt anyone. The Ertzaintza, for its part, opened an investigation to clarify what happened. From the very beginning, the main suspect was a former local 74-year-old policeman, but the Ertzaintza did not locate the weapon until Thursday. He was then arrested and has been taken to court on Friday, where he has been released on a provisional basis.
