BBVA’s highest performance in 2022 has been 6,420 million euros, 47% more than in 2021. In presenting the annual results of 2022 in Madrid, it has been pointed out that EUR 3 billion will be used for the remuneration of shareholders, which represents 47% of the profits. The annual dividend per share is expected to increase by 43 cents, 39% more than in 2021. It is the highest amount of the last 14 years; in October they paid 12 cents per share and from now on they will pay 31 cents more if the shareholder meeting accepts the rise. It will also launch a "stock buy-back plan".

BBVA President Carlos Torres Villa has explained that this result has been achieved by reinforcing the expansion of credit and giving "important advances" in its strategy, promoting digitalisation, innovation and sustainability. "By 2023, we will continue to create opportunities for all, and contribute to economic and social development."

Sortu, in the note that has just published the news, highlighted that Torres Villa obtained in 2021 7,800,000 euros as president of BBVA. "As they constantly enrich themselves, they impoverish us."
