Left-Ezkerra has asked the Government's Delegation in Navarra to unblock these manoeuvres and to close the Shooting Polygon, as well as the Spanish Government's Defence Minister, Margarita Robles, to transfer the petition to the Ministry of Defence.
The Bardenas were declared a Natural Park in 1999 and a Unesco World Biosphere Reserve in 2000, with two Special Bird Protection Areas and three Natural Reserves. For this reason, Left-Ezkerra considers it incomprehensible that such a valuable space should be a shooting range that destroys habitats and poses risks to the inhabitants and visitors of the area.
On the other hand, they have denounced that the manoeuvres entail significant costs and have demanded that this money
be spent to alleviate the negative effects that the COVID-19 crisis has caused on the most vulnerable.
More opportunities in Madrid
According to the coalition, the petition comes at a "key" moment, as, with the PSOE in the Government of Spain and Undida Podemos, they see more chances of it being taken into account. However, they have pointed out that this is a request that has been repeated for years, and they have denounced the lack of support and initiative. On this occasion, however, the answer to Puig’s question is expected.
