The news has been dealt with by the Maxixatzen of Azkoitia:

The project to build a non-hazardous waste management centre in Azkoitia has caused concern in the locality and the pressure exerted by various agents and citizens has led Mayor Javier Zubizarreta to publish a statement on 17 April. There, he assured, among other things, that "if there is no unanimity, a debris recycling plant will not be built". The members of the Azkarate Garbi platform have seen "a change of attitude" in those statements by Zubizarreta and have valued the news, although they have considered that the words of the mayor should be taken with "prudence" because "the actions and the expression full of contradictions we have made so far had another objective".

The neighborhood platform Azkarate Garbi considers that "the work of the City Hall is to make citizens aware of their interests and ensure well-being", and they are clear that the installation of such a space "would not be beneficial, but damages". "Our future, our environment, our health and our quality of life are at stake. Therefore, despite the approval of the requested meeting, we ask the mayor to take a clear position and position."

According to the neighborhood platform, "it has been clearly seen that there is no absolute consensus in the village" about the area they intend to build in Azkarate. "We want the mayor and his party to publicly announce the suspension of the project." As long as this does not happen, residents of the neighbourhood have warned that they will continue to fight for the situation in which they find themselves.

Finally, the members of the citizen platform Azkarate Garbi and the rest of the citizens have expressed their gratitude to the neighbors and neighbors for the change of attitude of the mayor that would not have been possible without their help. "The pots have been heard every day across the village, which shows that the other Azkoitia neighbours also want Azkarate to be clean, free of waste."
