We want a clean neighborhood
Hainbat egile* 2020ko azaroaren 17a

The Olibet-Etxeberrieta district of Orereta can be clean… with everyone’s effort. In addition to personal and domestic cleaning, we must clean the neighborhood. The pandemic constantly reminds us of the importance of cleaning…

In the neighborhood, as in all the town, steps have been taken in this direction in recent years. We remember the free distribution of plastic tubes, offered by the City Hall, the placement of composting and rejection containers. The data from the latter municipality are as follows:

Recycling was 32% in 2011 and 63% in 2020.

A big step forward. But it can be improved with everyone's effort. In addition, there are unacceptable situations in our neighborhood:

1.- Containers. We have three container points. Next to Panier, next to Olibet 2 and Olibet 4-5. Everyone has the risk of becoming a landfill. For example: The residents of Zamalbide Street seem to have been near a landfill for a long time. Some leave objects of any kind outside the container, where there are days and days left without anyone collecting them. When it rains, you see wet garbage, bad smell, rats.

"In 2011, 32% were recycled and in 2020, 63% were recycled.
A big step forward. But it can be improved with everyone's effort. In addition, in our neighborhood, there are unacceptable situations"

There are people who are not from the neighborhood, and sometimes from companies, who come at night with the van to leave the chairs, armchairs, appliances, wheels… Also bring glass bottles from the bars of the Alameda and leave them close. We reject these attitudes and take the necessary measures and call on the City Hall to make an effort to turn this problem around.

The City Hall has put a system (call by phone, date and go there) to collect this kind of rubbish. The phone is: 943 34 13 45.

The problem is repeated, to a lesser extent, in other containers.

2.- Canine droppings: the crap and urine in the sidewalks of some houses is unacceptable.

3.- Papresa has been authorized to install a garbage deposit, but this has been done without giving any information to the neighborhood. And we want to know what they've put us next to the house.

We will try to make our neighborhood clean, but the three issues we have mentioned are not just particular issues in the Olibet–Etxebarrieta neighborhood. In all the neighborhoods of the town we live in similar situations. The City Hall should have the floor and act.
