This Friday, February 7, Vitoria-Gasteiz (Alava) will be the main representative of the Israeli terrorist state in the world of sports: The Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team. He will play against Baskonia at 8:30 p.m., as the Solidarity with Palestine platform has repeatedly asked the club to cancel the match, but he has decided to move forward. Through a strict manifesto, 40 basketball teams and clubs, 91 sports personalities and 65 social and political groups in Álava have demanded that the match not be played, denouncing that the Zionist state uses such great initiatives to whitewash its face, but the proclamation has been ignored by the leadership of Baskonia.

In this sense, the platform Solidarity with Palestine calls for mobilisation: Under the slogan Maccabi Out, a demonstration will take place on Friday afternoon. It will start at 6:30 pm from the Civic Center Norte de Vitoria-Gasteiz, which is receiving wide support. To attend the mobilization, buses and car appointments are being organized in different cities and towns: there will be the possibility of traveling by bus from Pamplona (Navarra), Bilbao (Bizkaia) and Algorta (Bizkaia), sharing cars in San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa), Azpeitia (Gipuzkoa) and Zarautz (Gipuzkoa), among others.

Support for Palestine

Last Thursday Baskonia also performed in the Fernando Buesa Arena in Vitoria-Gasteiz, where a large number of people were spreading their support for Palestine: information leaflets and Palestinian flags were distributed during the confrontation in solidarity with the Palestinians. The police and private security forces of the stadium tried to stop the protest action: The police identified 32 people for their propaganda, who were expelled by security forces from the entrances of the Buesa Arena. However, during the match many spectators took out the flags of Palestine and the clamors were present.
