“In favor of the mountain in which he lives”

To reflect on the mountain, several talks have been organized with the aim of drawing attention to the importance of the mountain in the life of the farms and peasants. This year's edition has had the slogan "Live by the Mountain". "In this massif, especially in the Basque Country, the balanced coexistence between man and mountain is the origin of multiple landscapes. Grazing is their main artisan," says the organization.

On Friday at 11:00 "How to share the use of the mountain" will meet to answer the question, athletes, peasants, hunters or walkers, in order to discover the coexistence among all. On the same day, at 15:00 hours, the cultivation practices in the mountains will be treated and at 17:00 hours, the archaeologist Pablo Marticorena will offer the conference "Prehistory from time to the present, the mountain of public utility".

The following day, at 11.00 a.m., they will reflect on the relationship between the bear, the wolf and external growth. In this round table, Nicolas Lescureux, from the research center CNRS, will explain the consequences of the expansion of the wolf in the French State during the last 30 years, some pastors/peasants will present their testimonies and reflect on the possibilities and consequences of coexistence in the context of the Basque Country, including some reflections of the members of the ELB union.

In the market area, mountain production also has a place, as Pyrenean farmers are the main recommendation this year: "From Biarno to Catalonia the peculiarities of all corners in the market of the producing houses will be detected".

Cyrille Marlin, the godfather of this year

Every year organizers choose a patron/mom. This is Cyrille Marlin, a landscape, geographer and architect. He investigates the ways of life of the inhabitants of the mountains based on the development of the landscapes, focusing his observation on the practices of the peasants. It is part of the collective Encore formed by the inventory of experiences of peasants from the territories of Zuberoa, Oztibarre, Iholdi and Garazi du.Arkitektoz, who reflect on other forms of construction, following the vision of putting the medium and life in the center.
