Two weeks have passed since it was reported that the City of Amurrio withdrew the subsidy to Aiaraldea Komunikabideak. Since then, many entities and individuals have extended their solidarity and support to this project of revitalization of the Basque Country, which has been echoed in various media in the Basque Country.

The City Council, for its part, has limited itself to publishing a note, but the members of Aiaraldea Komunikabideak have responded to the arguments set out in a comprehensive analysis.

Today, the local authority has not yet contacted the media n.El has not received any notification from the City Hall, although we have been asking for a meeting with the mayor since mid-April.

Accession campaign

The Aiaraldea Cooperative Society (a non-profit organisation located behind Aiaraldea Komunikabideak) has held meetings with Amurrio’s partners in recent weeks. These Boards agree on the way forward to address this issue.

Today we have decided to take a further step towards unlocking the situation, starting the accession campaign. Here you can read and sign the manifesto.

Three direct petitions to the City Hall:

1. Strengthen the collaboration of the City of Amurrio with the cultural agents of the Basque Country, both in the municipality and in the region, supporting their demands and proposals and participating actively in them, thus becoming an active agent in the revitalization of the Basque Country.
2. Meeting of the Amurrio City Council with Aiaraldea Komunikabideak to relaunch and normalize collaboration between the two entities.
3. To re-establish the subsidy granted by the City of Amurrio to Aiaraldea Komunikabideak in the last 12 years and to update the amount of such economic protection, equating it to the contribution of the other municipalities of the region.

We invite all the individuals and associations and agents of the region to join the manifesto and bring their adhesion.

Citizen appearance 21 June

With regard to the manifesto, we have also made a quotation on the table. On Friday 21 June at 19:30 in Plaza Juan Urrutia, in front of the City Hall of Amurrio, the citizen appearance "Aiaraldea Komunikabideak" has been called. We invite all associations and individuals from all over the region of Ayala, but especially from Amurrio, with some distinctiveness from their group.
