Maribel Lopez de Luzuriaga Alonso Koldo Zabala Atxa Euskal Eskola Publikoaz Harro Topagunea 2025eko otsailaren 20a

The time has come for us to enrol in schools in the Basque Country for the 2025-26 academic year, and in many homes the youngest of the household will take a new step soon, in September, which is schooling. Proud of the Basque Public School The members of Topagune are firmly committed to the public school and we want to convey to those who need to enroll their children for the first time in the educational system, as well as to society as a whole, the reasons for choosing the public school:

We have the public school next to us, integrated in the neighborhood and in the village, promoting the community character; being close is sustainable, familiar and participatory, open to both internal and external contributions; it welcomes all children in its bosom and gives them the tools to live in today’s society from an early age, materializing the coexistence between the different in the day, because diversity enriches us. It is not linked to any belief and is free. It is Basque and regardless of the language of the house, the meeting point and the Basque culture will be Basque. Finally, we have the indispensable tool of social cohesion: because it is the school of the people, our school. This is how we expressed it on January 18 in Tolosa, with the help of many significant people who are committed to the public school.

In the valley of Karrantza, in the neighbourhoods of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in the foothills of Anbóra, in the villages of Goierri, in the vicinity of the vineyards of Rioja Arabar, in the lands of Lodosa, in the neighbourhoods of San Sebastián dotted with creeks, under the shade of the factories of Ayala, in the schools next to the Bilbao river, in the schools of children where the beaches of Isetza, Arrirou or Malkorbe are playgrounds, in the towns of Burdía, in the school district, in the Ayala, in the Valley, in the Valley, in the Valley, in the Camagro, in the Valley, in the Valley, in the villages of Camagón, in the Valley, in the Valley, in the villages of Ayala, in the Valley, in all the Valley and in the villages of Ayala, in all the towns, in all the towns, in the villages of Camaguilia, in the villages of Camaguilia, in the villages of Camaguilar, in the towns, in the towns, in the villages of Ayala Bazar, in all the towns, in the

The public school, one of the greatest achievements in history, the only one that is universal and equalizing, is not a priority of the Government

But we cannot forget that there are bad times for citizens' rights in general and for the future of public services in particular. The public school, one of the greatest achievements in history, the only one that is universal and equalizing, is not a priority of the Government. As is the case in the area of health, it is constantly taking steps to pave the way for private opportunities and impose restrictions on the public.

This privatizing policy continues to provide public money to private schools that are not needed in many places, i.e. where the public offer is sufficient and continues to authorize the offer on the school places of the private network; making educational planning as if the two networks, private and public, were on the same level. Beyond the beautiful words of always, this is the behavior of the Department of Education.

But every euro that is given to private education is taken away from the public school and the public money that goes to it inevitably favors the classification and distribution of society.

It is everyone’s job to defend public services, also in health, care and education, because the quality of all these public services guarantees the level of well-being of the public. Throughout the Basque Country, and also in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, in Education, the Public School is a public service that belongs to and for all.

Now that it is time to enrol in schools in the Basque Country, there are many of us who opt for the Basque Public School. Because it's ours, you come with us too. Go to the nearest public school, meet them, enroll your children, and participate. We are waiting for you at the Basque Public School.
