The neighbors have created the RTX auzolan project to defend the rights of the neighbors of the Rochapea district of Pamplona. “We saw that the rights of neighbors and neighbors were being violated, and we started fighting for the right to housing and public health,” explains Eneritz Esteban, a member of the RTX auzolan project.

Since most workers are on leave and do not replace them, they have fewer and fewer resources to care for people and have “long” waiting lists: “There is a one-month waiting list to talk to the doctor on the phone.” He adds that they have difficulty in arranging appointments both by phone and the Internet: “When we do it online to streamline the process, we have to wait six months to talk on the phone with the doctor and more to be face to face.”

60 workers for 26,000 patients

The “October” of the health center’s care has caused some users to have started against the workers and one of them attacked two workers last weekend. The health staff focused on denouncing the situation and stressed that they work “as best as possible”: “La Rochapea is the largest health center in Navarra, we serve 26,000 patients with 60 workers”.

As a result of the attacks, they have put safety on the workers, but Esteban believes it is a “patch”: “That is not the solution, it is to divert attention and say that the problem is safety.”

Considers that the money invested in security should be used for recruitment: “They should invest more money in workers and physician substitutions, that is, we want to invest in our health center.”

They began to denounce the situation of the health center with a concentration and the reception was “good”, so last week they held a demonstration. The next step will be an open assembly for the neighborhood network, but they still have no date: “We will continue to fight for the street.”
