The armoury company ITP does not want to stop working in its factories even if it is multiplying the coronavirus
  • In the last 48 hours there have been seventeen workers who have been quarantined for symptoms, and a total of 28. The works council has called for the complete cessation of production, but the management of the company has not accepted it. ITP is one of the most important companies in the tree sector.

The works council of ITP Aero Castings has denounced the situation of the plants of Sestao and Barakaldo. A worker is admitted to Basurto for coronavirus. Another 28 workers are quarantined for disease-related symptoms, of which seventeen have entered quarantine in the last 48 hours. In addition, several workers are on sick leave due to symptoms. Others have asked for job cuts, or have taken holidays.

The committee denounces the management's decision: “We believe this decision is a mistake. It contributes to the massive expansion of Covid-19.” Workers have received “deficiencies and contributions” and have transferred them to management through a receipt: “We do not rule out legal measures in the future.”

Arms company established by the Government of Spain and the Basque Government

ITP has plants in the Basque Country, Zamudio, Barakaldo and Sestao. It is based in Madrid.La a company founded in 1989, politically and economically driven by the Government of Spain and the Basque Government. The aim was for a Spanish state-owned company to be involved in the production of the new Eurofighter Typpoon fighter jet. He has been involved for years in this and other armoury projects at European level. The Basque Government subsequently sold the part of its ownership in the company. Construction of a more modern model of the aircraft, in which ITP will participate, is envisaged. The owner of ITP is the British company Rolls-Royce, one of the most important arms companies in the world.
