The doors were closed in December and three years have passed since no natural Plateruena was seen, which opened its doors exceptionally in the last edition of the Durango Fair to become Ahotsenea.
Next Friday, March 3, the Durango Dishes will turn on the lights again to start a new tour with the celebration of Piztu Argia. "Turn on the lights, cheer hearts and exaggerate this refuge," said Maider Larrañaga's coordinator at the press conference to present the event. Plateruena will focus on three axes: Basque, culture and creation. And it also fulfills five functions: "Quarry, experimentation space, meeting point, creators' plaza and referentiality".
The first change, evident, comes on behalf: from now on it will not be the Plateruena Kafe Antzokia; it will be the cultural hostel.
Culture Table at the base
In December 2020, when the doors were closed, the City of Durango took over the management of the space, and along with a good number of agents and people from the locality, the City of Platerena was launched and then what? dynamics of reflection. The process has borne fruit, and proof of this they have been prepared to turn on lights again.
Plateruena will have public and community management: the property is municipal, but the Culture Bureau, composed of a group of citizens, will reflect and serve as a meeting point for the exchange of ideas and lines of work. About 70 local members will be represented at this table and their decisions will be in the hands of an operational group. The group will consist of experts from the City Hall and two members of the Culture Bureau for more direct communication.
