He is here today to present in more detail the Tours Esku Pyrenees Road initiative. On 2 July, more than 300 summits will be illuminated, organized by ANC and the Federation of Mountaineers of Catalonia. The Omnium Cultural and Artistes associations of the Republic collaborate.

Spokespeople from Enti Esku, Josu Etxaburu and Amalur Alvarez stressed that this is the first initiative organized jointly by the social institutions of the Basque Country and Catalonia. They anticipate that it will be the beginning of long-term cooperation, a step from solidarity to cooperation.

The organization seeks to draw the attention of the international community to the self-determination of peoples through the enlightenment of the Pyrenees. “If the majority of the citizens of a territory opt for the creation of a new State, it must be possible to carry out that popular democratic will. It’s a matter of democracy and freedom.” They want to spread and make this message visible.

The organization has stressed that the aim of the initiative is activation. "We demand the need to work, agree and promote a process to decide our future," explained Álvarez. "On 2 July the Basques will illuminate 120 peaks, but we have to say that our summit is not in the Pyrenees, the goal is an 'ochomil': we want to resurrect the popular spirit to start a process of sovereignty."

Alvarez also complains about the political representatives: “Hopefully, let’s hear less expressions and see less action. They seem to wait to see what happens in other scenarios, to expect election cycles to pass.” In fact, on 22 June, they will ask the Basque Parliament to reactivate the debate on sovereignty, “We believe that society is tired of hearing that this is not the right time. This people deserves more ambition than that. The desire for sovereignty of this people has not been extinguished, and we do not believe that it will be extinguished.”

On 2 July, about 300 cimas will be lit throughout the Pyrenees, 120 of them Basque. They differentiate green from red summits depending on their accessibility. All green tops are located in the Basque Country and are accessible to the majority of the population. The summits are divided by localities, and when the participants indicate which site they belong to the website, they will be offered one or more summits to go with the neighbors. Most of the red summits, on the contrary, are located in the Central Pyrenees and are suitable for experienced mountaineers. Registration will be limited and once one of the summits is selected an email will be sent to the organization pirinioetakobidea@gureeskudago.eus. The organizers have anticipated that the registration is going at a good pace.

The ascension to the summits will be at 21:00 hours and the action will take place between sunset and sunset, from 21:45 to 22:30 hours approximately. However, for those who do not want to climb the mountain, there will be a space in the area of Guadalupe, in Jaizkibel, with a good atmosphere to pass music and sunset.

Catell de Llivian will be the main political event in which the organizers will take part. They will migrate directly from there and from the summits. In ARGIA you will also be able to see live the light line of the Pyrenees and the political act.
