The works of the High-Speed Train could affect the water supply of Lapufog and Billa Oka, according to the report "Declaration of Environmental Impact" of the TAV line Milan-Vitoria. According to the document, almost all the routes of the APR go through a protected space for future equipment. The City Council explained that the report "recognizes" that this aquifer is exploited to supply itself in the village of La Puebla de Arganzón. They have denounced that they do not present a solution to this problem, but have proposed only “hydrological monitoring” to “not harm” the supplies of Lapufog and Billa Oka. In addition, the text states that several water points should be identified for destruction when the path is close.

Monitoring "is not enough"

The mayor of La Puebla de Arganzón, Pablo Ortiz de Latierro, explained that the conclusions contained in the report are “absolutely unacceptable” and that it is not enough to follow up: “We don’t understand how these serious conditions are accepted and how no action is taken to alleviate them.”

The mayor recalled that in 2018 Argantzon’s allegation called for a solution to the “irreparable impact” the works could have, but he criticized that the Ministry of Ecological Transition has given them “deaf ears”, as it has given the green light to this section of the TAV. Ortiz de Latierro adds that the influence of the work on the water extends to the whole massif, crossing five streams. “An absolutely unsustainable project will bring serious consequences to our municipality,” he denounced.
