The decision of the multinational ArcelorMittal affects a total of 1,624 workers. The Basque Government has announced that it will implement next year a seven-day ere for its plants in Etxebarri, Lesaka, Valencia and Asturias. It will last three months, with a total of seven days: in January, February and March.

Eitb.eus states that the address has mentioned several reasons to justify the plan: The increase in imports into the European Union and, above all, the drop in demand in the Turkish steel and automotive sector. However, he also referred to the "economic uncertainty" caused by Brexit, the trade war, the Italian budget and the fines for carbon dioxide emissions.
