On Monday, the group of rescuers and monitors of the civic centers of Vitoria-Gasteiz began an indefinite strike to demand solutions to the precariousness of the sector.

The workers began the strike the same day, in an interview with the Chain Ser in which the mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gorka Uraran, made controversial statements.

He said textually that while sports facilities remained closed during the pandemic, these workers have been earning 100% of the salary, he saw no one complaining that they had to close those activities. "Furthermore, I do not understand your claim. We are talking about rescuers who charge between EUR 12.5 and EUR 15 per hour, EUR 20,000 and EUR 25,000 per year in exchange for 1,596 hours per year, to which only the school graduate is required, together with the training course for rescuers. I don't know where the problem is.

On social networks, several people, as well as the emergency workers in the press, have reproached these statements for their classicistic character.
