The Bertsolaris Association of Araba presented the 2024 Bertsolaris Championship of Álava at the Garrastatxu Txoko of Barambio.
It is recalled that in 1982 the first Bertsolaris Championship of Álava was held 40 years ago. All these years have explained the path taken by the production of bertsolaris in Álava and mentioned the championship stops: In 1982, the Bertsolaris Championship of Álava was held, in 1990 the San Prudencio Prize, in 2012 the Bertsolaris Crew of Álava, in 2021 the Bertsolaris Championship for Couples of Álava was held and in 2024 the first 40 year championship was held, so there is much to celebrate in Álava.
Two people are involved. The first was responsible for promoting the Egoitz Iradier Association who gave the detail of the tournament. Patxi Aizpurua, a member of the Bertsolaris Championship of Álava 40 years ago and secretary of the Association, then took part.
The first quarter of the tournament will be held on January 28 at the Casa de Cultura de Izarra. And it will end on March 16 at the Teatro Principal de Vitoria. Three quarter finals, two semifinals and final. Quarter-finals: Izarra, Oion and Llodio. Semi-finals: Aramaio and Dulantzi and final at the Teatro Principal de Vitoria.
The championship will have the following structure: Participants will be 18 bertsolaris from Araba, the 5 finalists who participated in the 2022 Bertsolaris Alavés Championship final plus the top 13 in order of scoring in the 2023 Fall Qualifiers. 18 in quarterfinals, 12 bertsolaris in semifinals and 6 bertsolaris in the final. Each bertsolari will only sing once in each phase. Quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in rooms, 5 sessions and final.
The tournament has had 9 Alavese referees, 13 Gaiters will create team themes and 6 of them will be in charge of presenting the final.
