Hundreds of people have met this Monday in Bilbao in response to the call made by the anti-specialist movement. The protest has departed from Plaza Moyua and, after touring the streets of the Casco Viejo, has ended in the Arenal, where they have concentrated. The organizers wanted to put non-human "animal resistance" in the city centre. "It is high time that the current power relationship between humans and other animals turned around by recognising non-human animals as trampled subjects," Nor Maialen Sagües spokeswoman said. The conveners have stressed the need to combat all forms of oppression and have called for continued work on the path of sovereignty without taking anyone.
"In Euskal Herria we have the largest cows nursery in Europe, in Navarre. The macrofarm in Caparroso tramples thousands of animals in the same space, but even though there are more sites, it is not freer those that explode in Ultzama or Baztan. No one who owns a landlord is free," the spokesman for the Nor group said.
The anti-specialist movement has strongly criticised the animal protection law introduced by the PNV and the PSE in Bizkaia, Álava and Gipuzkoa. "This is a thymus, which arises in a specific context, as it does not take into account other animals than those transformed into homes. The interests of non-human animals are always secondary or tertiary," Sagües said.
